Fifty years and seven metres separate the different levels from arrival at the site to the lighthouse complex. The new foyer was laid down between the original level and that of the cul-de-sac built after the eruption. Originally the arrival point, this place is now the departure point for a trip through the ashes that cover the original buildings, that takes one down to the level of the lighthouse and leaves one overlooking the sea and the dormant volcano.
At mid-height of the Mountain, occluded by the clouds, where the last traces of our civilization end and nature rules, the traveler begins his challenge of endurance and courage.
The almost closed building attempts to construct a proper environment to the visioning of the bottom of the ocean, through the circular shape of the screens and the enfolder in closets, aquariums or screens in blue color total.
Open to St. George island and facing the Pico mountain, the small residential units relate differently to the outside through private or semi-private areas, grassy or paved, all bounded by stone walls, hiding or leading the eye to partial views of proximity, or global ones on the horizon.
Lined by craters, built on the platform of delivery, suspended above the water line and tear on the surface, the building comes naturally visible, transparent and present, not imposed.
